Man arrested for slapping baby on plane
A Minneapolis mother is shocked and demanding justice after a man allegedly slapped her fussy toddler on a plane. The incident occurred as the two were seated next to a 60-year-old man on an Atlanta-bound flight on Feb. 8.
The 2-year-old boy reportedly started to cry as the plane got ready to land. Jessica Bennett said that’s when Joe Hundley called the boy a racial slur and told her to “shut the baby up.” She said Hundley then took it a step further and slapped her son Jonah.
“I could not believe he would say something like that to a baby or about a baby and then to hit him,” Bennett said. “I felt like I was in another world. I was shaking.”
Other passengers then came to her aid and the two were given a new seat. Since the incident, Bennett said the toddler has become apprehensive of strangers.
Hundley faces a federal assault charge. His attorney said he will plead not guilty. Hundley has already reportedly lost his job over the news.

Ted, you can’t always prevent a child from crying, especially if he’s crying because he doesn’t like what the change in air pressure is doing to his ears.
And as for the rest of you re: lawsuits: What was the mom supposed to say, that it wasn’t a big deal? That her child had no emotional reaction to being assaulted whatsoever? The kid probably IS leery of strangers now. Why shouldn’t she tell the truth?
Oh for Pete’s sake. He slapped a little baby nigger. Big deal! Would anyone be offended if he smacked a baby monkey for acting out? Wild animals need training with a whip. Don’t believe what newspapers tell you. The little nigglet was probably acting the same way they all act, that is unlike most two year old kids. Sure children cry, but these little fuckers already show signs of jungle behavior at that age. I’m sure “yo momma” over there refused to discipline or even attempt to get the mini-ape to quiet down and this good man decided to teach the big ape how to take care of the little ape. And that’s that. He deserves a medal for showing courage enough to stand up to a female silverback.

ok the guy shouldn’t have hit the screaming kid, but maybe he should have hit the mother. Parents rarely control their kids and seem to think its cute when they act like little idiots in public. I don’t have kids and don’t want any so why should I be forced to listen to your little shit factories scream and throw a fit!? I definately think there should be segregation, keeping kids and parents who won’t control them seperate from the rest of civilized humanity!
Sedate the little ‘accidents’ and tie and gag the ‘parents’ of these little carpet-crawlers if they don’t control them. Better yet, strap them all on the outside of the plane. Flying is stressful enough without having to put up with this garbage. Why do you think they serve booze on flights?????? Sure as hell isn’t for the pilots!
“Controlling” your children isn’t that easy, haven’t we all been little shits not listening to our parents after they told us not to do something? Especially when the kids ears are popping that’s something he can’t help, we all feel discomfort, little kids don’t know how to manage it like adults, so they cry.
I agree people shouldn’t have to put up with screaming kids but if we wanted to avoid annoyances we would all live in our own little bubble avoiding life. Be a little understanding of others situations.
caitlin: listening to a screaming child on an entire 5 hour flight isnt an annoyance, it should be against the law.

I am not the parent of a child, and do not plan to ever be one. I do not want to listen to someone’s brat squall, however this man’s reaction is inappropriate. Striking a child that isn’t your own is unacceptable, especially when the reasons for the child’s crying is out of his control. Change in cabin pressure, everyone moving around, someone talking over a loudspeaker and he can’t understand it, it’s no wonder he was crying.
OK, this happened as the plane was making its final approach before landing, kid cried because change in air pressure hurt its ears, Pasty McHonkey here hauled off and slapped the baby saying “Shut that n****r baby up”. Why, precisely, do these ugly racist a-holes feel empowered to act out their Birth of a Nation fap fantasies at THIS particular moment in time? Given the tenor of the comment on this thread, surely one of you sheet wearing gentlemen could enlighten me…

Look, as far as I’m concerned, that old cocknoggin hasn’t even come close to getting what he deserves! All it would’ve taken (civilly, of course) for the old man to solve the predicament would have been to simply explain his situation to a flight attendant (minus the racial slurs and smartass comments) and simply ask if he could take a different seat. A little patience and courtesy goes a long way. Oh, and for those of you making remarks of hatred against an innocent child and against black people: 1st – I can tell you aren’t a parent and I pray you never become one! 2nd – Have you ever seen a black mama deal with a misbehaving child?!? me thinks that this is a made up story by the mother who saw a rich looking guy sitting next to her. She saw $$$ and thought”…hmmm… my baby is crying…. this guy next to me doesn’t like it. Maybe I will say he hit my baby, so I can sue!”
Thats what I bet actually happened. Then again, I hate the sound of crying in general, especially crying babies, especially on long flights… I would not have hit the child, but I would have told the mother to shut her baby up.
